Team/division description:
The role sits within the IT & Digital (IT&D) organisation, supporting Sales & Value Chain systems. The team plays a key role in shaping and governing the digital architecture that underpins Toyota’s European Sales & Value Chain transformation, operating across multiple markets and stakeholders.
Job purpose:
The Technical Lead Digital & E-commerce is responsible for driving the technical execution, quality and operational reliability of digital and e-commerce solutions supporting Sales & Value Chain business processes.
This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strong delivery ownership. The Technical Lead is expected to raise engineering standards, drive execution, challenge weak solutions and ensure teams deliver robust, scalable and secure solutions with speed and quality.
The role acts as the technical authority during delivery, bridging architecture, engineering and operations teams to resolve complex technical challenges and ensure business-critical platforms perform reliably in production.
Key responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Design

Lead technical implementation with strong ownership of delivery quality, engineering standards and operational stability.

Act as the technical decision maker for assigned initiatives, providing clear direction and pragmatic trade-off decisions.

Drive engineering discipline, code quality, maintainability and technical consistency across teams and suppliers.

Challenge ineffective technical approaches and push for scalable, supportable and efficient solutions.

Take a hands-on role when required to resolve critical technical blockers or production issues.
Digital & E‑commerce Delivery

Ensure high‑quality implementation of customer‑facing digital platforms, sales portals and e‑commerce solutions.

Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, availability and reliability requirements.
-
Drive predictable and high-quality delivery by proactively identifying risks, removing blockers and maintaining execution focus.
-
Balance speed, quality and technical sustainability without overengineering.
-
Ensure teams deliver solutions that are production-ready, observable and operationally supportable.
Integration & Data Quality

Oversee technical implementation of system integrations between e‑commerce platforms, backend systems and data layers.

Ensure correct handling of data flows, data consistency and data quality across digital and sales systems.

Support troubleshooting of complex integration and data issues.

Define, monitor and report on quality KPIs for the product or platform (e.g. stability, defects, technical debt, delivery predictability).
Collaboration & Execution

Work closely with Solution Architects to ensure architectural intent is respected during delivery.

Collaborate with Product Owners, business stakeholders and delivery teams to clarify technical requirements.

Coordinate and technically guide external vendors and development partners.
Quality, Security & Operations

Ensure adherence to development standards, security guidelines and best practices.

Support deployment, stabilisation and handover to operations teams.

Contribute to continuous improvement and reduction of technical debt.

Support root-cause analysis and coordinate effectively across application, infrastructure and Core IT teams.

Drive continuous improvement through post-incident learning, technical debt reduction and operational excellence.
Your Profile:
- You are fluent in English (TME business language)

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in IT, Engineering or a related field

Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering or technical leadership roles, with hands‑on experience in digital and/or e‑commerce solutions.

Strong ownership mindset with high standards for quality, reliability and execution.

Results-driven leader able to combine technical depth with pragmatic decision making.

Comfortable taking direct responsibility during complex delivery or production situations.

Able to challenge teams, suppliers and technical approaches constructively to achieve better outcomes.
