At Euroclear’s Core Systems Tribe, we focus on strengthening and evolving the company’s core IT environments. Our mission is to ensure the stability, scalability, and controlled evolution of Euroclear’s core technologies, supporting critical business operations.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to start or further develop a career as a Mainframe Security Engineer . You will work closely with experienced colleagues, contribute to the engineering and operation of security solutions across operating systems, middleware, third-party software, and network components, and progressively build expertise in monitoring, auditing, cryptography, and security tooling within mission-critical mainframe environments.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of experienced team members, you will:
- Design, configure, administer, and enforce security controls across z/OS, middleware, and third ‑ party products (e.g. RACF profiles, permissions, policies).
- Manage identities and access (role/entitlement design, reviews, segregation of duties).
- Monitor, audit, and respond to security events, including alerting, log analysis, and basic incident investigation.
- Implement and maintain cryptographic controls, key management, and data protection mechanisms.
- Develop and maintain security tooling and automation (e.g. REXX, JCL, scripts) to support compliance, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- First starting with daylight support and once you will have gain enough expertise, you will participate in Night Production Watch Duty on a rotational basis, with support from the team. This will also include (rare) weekend activities during special deployments.

- Escalate non-standard or complex issues to senior colleagues and domain experts, while contributing to analysis and resolution.
- Develop understanding across several known technical domains with structured support.

- Apply existing policies and standards, escalating when deviations or risks are identified.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Initial experience or strong interest in mainframe environments (z/OS) , either through studies, internships, or early professional roles.
- Basic knowledge or exposure to security principles, JCL, ReXX is an advantage.
- First experience or foundational knowledge in scripting or programming .
- Any additional exposure to mainframe technologies is considered a plus.
