At Euroclear’s Core Systems Tribe, we focus on strengthening and evolving the company’s core IT environments. Our mission is to ensure the stability, scalability, and controlled evolution of Euroclear’s core technologies, supporting critical business operations.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to start or further develop a career as a Mainframe Security Engineer . You will work closely with experienced colleagues, contribute to the engineering and operation of security solutions across operating systems, middleware, third-party software, and network components, and progressively build expertise in monitoring, auditing, cryptography, and security tooling within mission-critical mainframe environments.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of experienced team members, you will:
- With close guidance and according to established procedures, you will:
- Support the implementation and maintenance of security controls across z/OS, middleware, and third party products (e.g. RACF profiles, permissions, policies).
- Execute identity and access management tasks, including role assignment, basic entitlement updates, and participation in access reviews.
- Perform routine monitoring and audit activities (log checks, alert handling, initial triage).
- Assist in security event analysis, escalating incidents as required.
- Contribute to cryptographic operations (key management handling, controls execution) under supervision.
- Support the development and maintenance of basic automation and tooling (REXX, JCL, scripts).
- Produce standard reports and documentation to support compliance and operational activities.
Start with daylight support and progressively participate in on-call/watch duty, once sufficiently trained.

- Work on well-defined, routine tasks using documented procedures.
- Identify issues and escalate appropriately to more experienced engineers.
- Contribute to investigations by collecting data and applying known methods .
- Develop understanding of core domains (z/OS, RACF, IAM, crypto) with structured support.

- Escalate deviations, risks, or uncertainties to senior team members.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Initial exposure to mainframe environments (z/OS) through studies, internships, or first roles.
- Basic knowledge of security concepts is an advantage.
- Exposure to JCL, REXX, or scripting/programming is a plus.
- Interest in mainframe security and enterprise environments..
