As Sales Manager DIY, you will be responsible for further expanding our business within the DIY retail market, with a specific focus on Germany. You will be working with our core Panels product range, including particleboard, MDF and furniture panels, complemented by dedicated solutions for the DIY market. This role combines a strong analytical and market-building phase with targeted commercial development.
During your first 6 to 12 months, you will develop into an autonomous commercial professional ("Unilin-proof"), gaining in-depth knowledge of our products, systems and organisation, while building a clear understanding of the German DIY market. Your responsibilities:
Market analysis & strategic development
- Conduct an in-depth analysis of the German DIY market, including customers, purchasing structures, intermediaries, supply chain dynamics and market trends.
- Structure and translate this information into a clear market vision.
- Identify and prioritise the most relevant commercial opportunities.
Business development & account management
- Develop and implement a targeted commercial action plan.
- Build strong relationships with buyers and category managers.
- Lead negotiations at central purchasing level.
- Further develop the Carpentry/Furniture Panels category within your customer portfolio.
- Convert commercial opportunities into concrete business by defining product assortments, promotional activities and pricing strategies.
Commercial execution & in-store presence
- Monitor commercial initiatives through to store-floor execution.
- Provide support and training where needed to increase sell-out performance.
- Optimise our presence on customers' online shops and e-commerce platforms.
Internal collaboration & stakeholder management
- Build a strong internal network across Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and Customer Service.
- Quickly identify and engage the right internal stakeholders to move projects forward.
- Work closely with the Internal Sales team on price lists and margin analyses, product coding, order processing and customer administration. #LI-MD1
Pricing, operational ownership and performance management
- Learn to work with various pricing tools and SAP.
- Build a solid understanding of our cost structure.
- Prepare quotations independently and take ownership of pricing decisions within your scope of responsibility.
- Closely monitor your commercial performance.
- Measure results against predefined targets.
- Adjust your approach where necessary in close collaboration with the Global Sales Manager DIY.
You will be based at our HQ in Wielsbeke, while spending approximately 40% of your time visiting customers, often abroad. In this role, you will report directly to the Global Sales Manager DIY.
- You hold a Master's degree in a commercial, business or economics-related field and have gained initial relevant experience in B2B sales and/or the retail/DIY sector. Experience managing key accounts is considered an asset.
- You are fluent in English, French and German.
- You have strong analytical skills and are able to structure data and market information effectively. You have a solid command of Excel, while knowledge of SAP and CRM systems is an advantage.
- You quickly master complex products, systems and markets and you take ownership of both your projects and your own professional development.
- You proactively build and maintain relationships, both internally and externally.
- You combine strategic thinking with a hands-on commercial mindset.
