Internship Overview
AZA Battery is looking for a motivated Engineering Intern to join our Engineering Department for a 5-month internship.
The internship offers hands-on experience in product development, process engineering and manufacturing industrialization within the fast-growing battery industry. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and researchers, supporting the development of manufacturing processes and innovative battery products from laboratory scale to industrial implementation.
This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in batteries, advanced manufacturing, mechanical design and process development to gain practical experience in a dynamic startup environment.
The internship is based at our engineering and manufacturing facility in Tournai, Belgium.
Main Responsibilities
During the internship, the candidate will:
- Contribute to process development activities supporting the industrialization of products and manufacturing processes.
- Participate in technical discussions focused on process optimization, troubleshooting and technology development.
- Plan and execute Design of Experiments (DoE) to evaluate process parameters and support engineering decisions.
- Collect, analyze and present experimental data to support process improvements.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, work instructions and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the R&D, Engineering and Quality teams by sharing production results, technical findings and improvement opportunities.
- Support the industrialization of products at cell, module and container level through the development of 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings.
- Participate in laboratory activities, prototype development and engineering validation tests.
- Report project progress and technical activities directly to the Head of Engineering.

Desired Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing or industrial engineering principles.
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA or equivalent).
- Interest in process development and product industrialization.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Basic knowledge of experimental methods and data analysis is considered an advantage.
- Interest in battery technologies, advanced materials or manufacturing processes is appreciated.

Education
Applicants should be currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Master's Degree program in one of the following disciplines:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Materials Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Energy Engineering
- Or another closely related engineering field
The internship may be recognized as part of the student's academic curriculum if permitted by the university's study plan.
Languages
- English: Minimum B2 level.
- French is considered an advantage but is not mandatory.
