Job description
You will join the Health Indicators team within the Health Information Department (Scientific Directorate for Epidemiology and Public Health). This department generates, utilises and enhances health information in Belgium and Europe. The Health Indicators unit, in particular, utilises health information to provide an up-to-date picture of the burden of disease in Belgium and beyond.
You will contribute to research that supports health policy and, specifically, you will collaborate on research projects focused on cost of disease estimates and health economic evaluations of (public) health interventions.
Your tasks will include, amongst other things:
- providing quantitative support for the development and implementation of cost-of-illness studies;
- carrying out or assisting with health economic evaluations, such as cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses (national burden of disease study, screening and vaccination for infectious diseases, etc.);
- collecting and analyzing health and economic data; carrying out statistical analyses and modelling in R; communicating and reporting on the various research projects;
- identifying and applying techniques for calculating the economic burden of disease.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams on various research projects and incorporate your research findings into reports, presentations and publications. You will join an experienced team and receive the guidance and tools you need to develop in your role.
Profile
Master’s degree in (health) economics, public health, epidemiology, or a related field
Experience with statistical analysis or economic modelling (e.g. Markov models)
Technical skills:
- knowledge of R (or other programming languages)
- knowledge of health economic evaluations (such as cost-effectiveness analysis, budget impact analysis, etc.)
General skills: eager to learn; analytical and problem-solving; a team player; collaborative
Language skills: good command of English; good command of Dutch or French
