We are looking for a SCADA Software Validation & Test Engineer with extensive experience in validating, verifying, and ensuring the quality of SCADA systems and field applications operating in mission-critical and safety-critical environments. The consultant will be responsible for guaranteeing that solutions comply with functional, technical, operational, security, and regulatory requirements while collaborating closely with analysts, developers, infrastructure teams, operations, and external vendors. The role requires a strong background in software testing, industrial communication, automation, cybersecurity principles, and production support within complex distributed SCADA ecosystems.
Missions:
Validate, verify, and ensure the quality of SCADA systems and field applications.
Design and implement comprehensive testing strategies for critical industrial software solutions.
Ensure compliance with functional, technical, operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Support system integration, deployment, commissioning, and production activities.
Contribute to continuous quality improvement and test automation initiatives.
Ensure the stability, reliability, availability, performance, and security of distributed SCADA environments.
Activities:
Design test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test scripts based on specifications, risk analyses, and applicable standards.
Execute functional and non-functional testing, including:
Integration testing
System testing
Regression testing
Performance testing
Security testing
Perform manual and automated testing within distributed SCADA environments.
Validate:
High availability
Performance
Security
Redundancy
Fail-safe mechanisms
Integration with PLCs, sensors, OPC-UA interfaces, and external systems.
Document, analyze, prioritize, and monitor defects in collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
Participate in:
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Commissioning and go-live activities
Support end users and operators during testing and production deployment.
Contribute to knowledge transfer, technical documentation, and user training.
Monitor production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
Validate corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
Improve testing methodologies, automation processes, monitoring capabilities, and documentation.
You have the following skills:
Technical Skills
10+ years of experience with SCADA systems in operational environments.
10+ years of experience performing functional and non-functional software testing.
10+ years of experience working in safety-critical and regulated environments.
10+ years of experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
10+ years of experience integrating and testing field devices and peripheral applications.
10+ years of experience in:
Test strategy
Test planning
Test scenario design
Defect management
Reporting
Production support
Incident management
Minimum 5 years of experience with:
SIL standards and safety compliance
ISO 27001 and information security principles
Industrial communication protocols and interfaces (including OPC-UA)
FAT, SAT, UAT, and commissioning support
Test automation
Technical and testing documentation
Strong understanding of:
Distributed SCADA architectures
PLCs
Sensors
Industrial communication
Software quality assurance
Risk-based testing
Safety and regulatory compliance
High-availability systems
Languages
Fluent French or Dutch (C2 level).
Professional English (C1 level – reading, writing, and comprehension).
Soft Skills
Strong knowledge of the IT landscape and the challenges associated with industrial SCADA environments.
Ability to quickly understand the organization's mission, business activities, and operational context.
