The Accounting and Governance Lead supports and ensures the timely and accurate reporting of BME accounting records in accordance with US GAAP and Brunswick accounting policies. This role acts as a key accounting governance partner across EMEA, ensuring not only compliance but also driving robustness, challenge, and continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.
Accountabilities:
1. Ensure that day-to-day accounting operations across entities within the Brunswick Marine in EMEA structure are performed in full compliance with established Brunswick accounting policies and US GAAP standards, while proactively identifying risks and areas for improvement.
2. Develop, review, and continuously enhance financial processes and internal controls to ensure full compliance with SOX requirements and Brunswick accounting policies. This includes:
- Leading the validation and improvement of process documentation and control frameworks
- Assessing the effectiveness of financial and operational controls and identifying gaps
- Collaborating with Finance community and key stakeholders to:
- Understand control issues and root causes
- Contributing to the design and strengthening of controls, going beyond execution into continuous improvement
3. Lead by example during critical periods such as month-end closing and audit cycles, ensuring a high level of accuracy, rigor, and timeliness in the completion of:
- B/S reconciliations
- G/L entries
- Clearing account movements
- Inventory follow-up
- Internal and external reporting requests and ad hoc analyses
4. Support and actively contribute to the group closing process (including JE, IC reconciliations, and reporting), ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to deadlines across entities.
5. Act as a key partner in Business Governance and Compliance efforts across EMEA by:
- Ensuring Risk & Control Matrices (RCMs) are properly updated ahead of BCIA audits
- Reviewing and challenging business processes to drive continuous improvement and efficiency
- Ensuring timely completion of BC One – BECM requirements across all stakeholders
- Leading and contributing to SOX enhancement and remediation projects across EMEA

Ensuring full preparedness and quality of documentation for internal audit (BCIA)
6. Act as a primary point of contact for internal and external auditors, ensuring transparent, proactive communication on all matters. Anticipate potential issues, challenge findings when needed, and define robust action plans to address identified deficiencies.
7. Build strong partnerships and provide expert support to key stakeholders, including: VP / CFO Global Marine, Tax and Accounting teams, Business Unit Directors, FP&A department, external auditors, etc.
8. Actively review and challenge accounting treatments, journal entries, and financial assumptions proposed by finance teams and Country Finance Managers, ensuring alignment with US GAAP and internal policies.
9. Take ownership of key accounting and governance processes at EMEA level, ensuring consistency, standardization, and continuous improvement across countries.
10. Lead or contribute to cross-functional and regional projects related to accounting, compliance, and governance, indirectly coordinating stakeholders and driving execution to successful outcomes.
11. Handle complex and non-routine accounting or compliance topics with a high degree of autonomy, exercising critical judgment and the ability to take well-founded positions in the absence of clear precedents.
Offer:
This exciting position offers a salary range between 66.500€ and 91.500€ (payable in 13.92 instalments). Please be aware that this range represents the pay scale for all positions within the job grade in which the post falls. The actual salary offer will consider a wide range of factors, including skills, experience, and location.
