Meet the Team
Cisco is seeking an intern to join its global Government Affairs team as an EU Public Policy Intern. Based in Brussels, Belgium (Square de Meeus) and reporting to the Director of EU Trade and Digital Transformation Policy, this individual will support Cisco’s government engagements and public policy efforts within the EU. The role begins in September 2026 for a 6-month, temporary contract under theBIS framework.
Cisco’s Government Affairs team represents the company with governments around the world to build relationships with key leaders, advance Cisco’s public policy goals, and educate governments about our industry. Government Affairs is involved in all key legislative, regulatory, and global issues that impact the technology industry.
We are comprised of government and public policy experts across nearly two dozen countries who represent Cisco at the highest levels of government. The team has extensive experience in and out of government and are leaders in the industry.
Your Impact
As an EU Public Policy Intern, you will support the European Public Policy team in navigating the complex regulatory landscape of the European Union. You will play a pivotal role in gathering intelligence, facilitating internal communications, and ensuring the team remains informed on critical policy developments that impact Cisco’s business and our Purpose to Power an Inclusive Future for All.
Key responsibilities include:
- Research and monitor key policy trends, regulatory changes, and developments in areas such as connectivity, AI, cybersecurity, digital transformation, connectivity, skills, geopolitics, trade, competition, and energy.
- Create and maintain internal-facing central hubs, briefings, presentations, newsletters, and stakeholder maps to support the EU and global public policy teams.
- Support the preparation, coordination, and follow-up of events and internal meetings.
- Attend and produce summaries of conferences, seminars, hearings, and industry association meetings to provide actionable insights for the team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Recently graduated or currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Must be eligible to live and work in Belgium without the need for visa support or sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in EU Public Affairs, with a specific focus on AI, digital and telecommunications policy.
- Sound understanding of EU institutions and the legislative policy-making process.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and summarize findings in a clear, concise manner.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, flexibility, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency or fluency in additional EU languages
- Previous internship or project experience related to technology policy or government affairs.
