Its main customers are public and private rail operators in Belgium and Luxembourg (BeLux). To better address local challenges related to next-generation rail signaling, Siemens Mobility BeLux is looking for a Technical Sales expert in rail signaling for direct sales.
Your role:
You are responsible for the technical expertise during the full long-term sales cycle, from market scanning and opportunity development to proposal preparation and contract award within a mainly public tendering environment. You act as a trusted expert for both customers and internal stakeholders and contribute to strengthening Siemens Mobility’s position in the evolving European rail signaling landscape.
- Develop the rail signaling market and proactively identify long-term opportunities (up to a 25-year horizon)
- Build, expand, and maintain strong relationships with key customer stakeholders at expert level
- Translate customer needs into tailored, value-driven Siemens Mobility solutions
- Collaborate closely with HQ, internal Business Units, and external partners to ensure aligned and competitive offerings
- Define and drive a clear multi-year technical sales strategy with measurable short-, mid-, and long-term objectives
- Lead the preparation of high-quality, competitive and customer-focused proposals in public tender environments
- Act as a reference expert within the organization, sharing insights on market trends, technologies, and regulations
- Ensure a smooth transition from winning proposals to successful contract execution and long-term customer satisfaction
Your profile:
Hard skills
Must have:
- 5+ years' experience in rail signaling
- Strong technical background in railway signaling, combined with a business-oriented mindset and the ability to identify
- Master’s degree in IT or Engineering
- Fluent in Dutch, French, and English
- Knowledge of Interlocking & ETCS systems and rail signaling concepts
- Familiar with public tendering procedures (EU level)
- Understanding of CAPEX/OPEX models (projects, SaaS, cloud)
- General knowledge of ICT/OT and software environments
Nice to have:
- Experience in sales transactions
- Familiarity with the CENELEC V-cycle
- Knowledge of Interlocking components (e.g. track vacancy detection, axle counters level crossings), ETCS elements such as LEU, and communication standards like GSM-R and FRMCS
- Knowledge of homologation processes (NOBO, NSA) in ETCS train and locomotive integration
- Familiarity with standards and certifications from European rail bodies (ERA, UNIFE, EIM)
- Understanding of SaaS solutions and cybersecurity frameworks in the mobility domain (e.g. NIS2, EU-CRA)
