Experience: 10+ years of industrial design experience
At Loop, industrial design defines how our products look, feel, and perform. As Lead Industrial Designer, you shape the design direction of a product category while helping the Industrial Design team raise its craft and impact across the portfolio.
This is a role for someone who wants to stay deeply involved in designing products while also guiding a team. You bring clarity to early ideas, translate them into strong physical products, and help designers around you elevate their work. Your work connects brand ambition, user needs, and manufacturing reality.
You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, UX, and CMF to ensure that design intent remains strong from early exploration through to mass production.
You lead the industrial design direction across different categories from early concept through production. You translate strategy and user insight into strong physical form while ensuring products are feasible, scalable, and ready for manufacturing.
Alongside hands-on work, you support and guide the Industrial Design team. You provide direction, structured feedback, and help designers develop their craft while maintaining a high design bar across the portfolio.
This role combines hands-on industrial design with team leadership. You influence how products are shaped, how the team works together, and how design contributes to product and business success.
What You’ll Do
Lead product design from concept to production
Drive early concept exploration through sketching, CAD, and prototyping
Translate user needs and product strategy into clear physical design directions
Deliver production-ready designs in close collaboration with engineering and manufacturing partners
Own the design direction for a product category
Define and evolve product form language within the category
Ensure consistency in design quality, usability, and brand expression
Balance design ambition with engineering and manufacturing constraints
Guide and develop the Industrial Design team
Provide feedback and coaching to designers to strengthen their craft and design decision making
Lead design critiques and reviews to maintain a high design bar
Help structure design work so the team can move quickly without sacrificing quality
You care deeply about designing real products for real people. You value the craft of industrial design and understand how products are actually made. You move fluidly between sketching ideas, reviewing CAD, and discussing manufacturing constraints with engineers.
You bring clarity to complex design decisions and help teams move forward with confidence. Designers look to you for feedback and direction, while cross-functional partners rely on your judgment to balance design quality, feasibility, and speed.
You know when to explore broadly and when to focus on delivering a production-ready solution.
What You’ll Bring
10+ years of experience in industrial or product design
A strong portfolio of physical consumer products brought to market
Advanced experience in CAD, prototyping, and iterative design development
Deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and production constraints for consumer hardware
Experience mentoring designers and raising design quality within a team
Ability to translate product strategy into clear and manufacturable design direction
Approach aesthetics as surface styling rather than as part of solving real user needs within engineering and production constraints
Avoid taking ownership of product direction or category decisions
Struggle to collaborate closely with engineering or manufacturing teams
Feel uncomfortable giving or receiving direct design feedback
Great. At Loop, industrial design sits at the heart of every product we bring to life. If you want to shape wearable products that people use every day while helping a design team raise its craft, we would love to hear from you.
