Accounting Specialist
Brussels Airport Area / Flemish Brabant | Full-time | Hybrid (2 days remote)
Salary: €65,000–€75,000 + benefits
An international business is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support its Belgium operations.
This is a broad, hands-on accounting role with responsibility for local finance activities in Belgium while working closely with English speaking international finance colleagues.
The position offers a mix of operational accounting, compliance, reporting and cross-functional collaboration within an established international environment.
The role
You will support day-to-day finance operations and ensure accounting processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing accounting transactions and maintaining accurate financial records
- Performing month-end reconciliations and journal entries
- Managing customer invoicing and responding to invoice-related queries
- Supporting accounts receivable activities and payment allocation
- Processing supplier invoices and VAT coding
- Supporting Belgian VAT filings and compliance activities
- Assisting with internal and external audit requirements
- Supporting payroll administration where required
- Collaborating with UK and US finance teams to support reporting and operational processes
- Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and controls
Candidate profile
We are looking for an accounting professional who enjoys working independently, takes ownership of their work and is comfortable collaborating across international teams.
Requirements:
- 3–6 years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping or finance operations
- Formal accounting education or qualification preferred
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Strong Microsoft Excel and data handling skills
- Knowledge of Belgian accounting principles and VAT processes
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
- Strong communication skills and collaborative approach
- Fluent Dutch and English (required)
