About Tu Thai Food
Tu Thai Food is a Thai restaurant, known for its authentic Thai dishes. Our kitchen focuses on traditional recipes, fresh herbs and classic cooking techniques from Thailand. Honest, flavourful and true to the original.
What will you do?
As an Independent Chef you are responsible for the day-to-day operations in the kitchen. You usually work on your own, supported by one or two (part-time) kitchen assistants. You oversee the quality and preparation of dishes and make sure the kitchen runs smoothly.
In practice this means:
- You prepare and present dishes according to recipe.
- You assess and prep ingredients and carry out interim quality checks (doneness, taste, colour, consistency).
- You manage stock, place timely orders with suppliers, check deliveries and make sure everything is stored according to the FIFO principle.
- You provide input on the menu, dish range and cooking methods.
- You work in line with HACCP, occupational health and safety guidelines and ensure they are followed.
- You give technical guidance to the kitchen assistant(s) and are responsible for a clean and tidy work environment.
What we are looking for
- secondary vocational (mbo) level 3 of working and thinking;
- knowledge of basic cooking techniques, products and ingredients;
- an eye for quality, hygiene and efficiency;
- a team player with good communication skills;
- stress-resistant and flexible.
What we offer
- a contract for 38 hours per week;
- salary in line with the Dutch Horeca collective labour agreement (cao Horeca), between € 2,606.25 and € 3,032.78 gross per month (based on 38 hours), depending on knowledge and years of experience;
- (shared) housing available;
- travel allowance in line with the cao;
- staff meals twice per shift;

Work locations
You will work alternately at our two locations: Van den Havestraat 109, 6521 JR Nijmegen and Vierakkerstraat 15, 6851 BA Huissen both in The Netherlands. This is always arranged in consultation. As a rule you will work at either location 1 or location 2. Occasionally you may be asked to step in at the other location to cover a colleague's absence. Both locations operate under the same company.
