ERGO is one of the leading insurance groups in Germany and Europe. The group is active in approximately 26 countries worldwide, with a strong focus on Europe and Asia. In its home market, Germany, ERGO is one of the most important providers across all segments.
As a Change & Release Manager, you are responsible for monitoring and coordinating changes and releases of IT applications within ERGO.
The IT landscape is continuously evolving, and your role ensures that changes are prepared, assessed, planned, and executed in a controlled, risk‑aware, and transparent manner.
You act as a key link between IT Operations, project teams, and various stakeholders, ensuring the stability of the production environment. No change goes into production without your formal approval according to your process responsibility.
You achieve this by maintaining correct documentation and following the established guidelines.
Your responsibilities
- Change Management Ownership
- Full ownership of the Change & Release Management process, including managing, evaluating, and continuously optimizing procedures.
- Assess incoming change requests for completeness, impact, risks, and test results.
- Correct classification of changes (Standard, Normal, Critical, Emergency) and follow‑up throughout the entire lifecycle.
- Ensuring documentation quality, CMDB updates, and compliance with ICS and ITSM standards.
- Coordination of the full CAB process: selecting the right participants, preparing and leading meetings, presenting analyses, and recording decisions, risks, and communication agreements.
- Evaluation and management of Standard Changes, including promotion or adjustment based on stability and risk levels.
- Release Planning & Coordination
- Aligning releases closely with project teams, IT Operations, and service owners, and maintaining a clear and up‑to‑date release calendar.
- Monitoring progress during implementations, assessing risks, and managing fallback scenarios or deviations as needed.
- Ensuring smooth execution of release moments and providing clear communication to all involved stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement & Post‑Implementation
- Organizing or conducting Post Implementation Reviews, including evaluation, proper closure, and feedback to the relevant stakeholders.
- Analyzing trends, success rates, and incident data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Taking initiatives to further optimize processes and introduce best practices in Change and Release Management.
Who are we looking for?
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, such as Change Manager, Release Manager, or ITSM process owner.
- Preferably a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent through experience.
- Solid knowledge of ITIL & ITSM standards. Familiarity with Jira is required; knowledge of Confluence is a plus.
- Experience with CAB meetings, stakeholder management, CMDB processes, and IT asset management.
- Language skills: Dutch and/or English required; French is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, with excellent communication, documentation, and reporting abilities.
- Stress‑resistant and decisive. You take ownership and are able to set boundaries, even under pressure.
- Structured and methodical, yet flexible enough to deal with sudden changes and issues.
- A process‑oriented thinker who looks beyond their own role and is open to new ways of working.
- Motivated to help shape future process optimizations.
