At Campus Gasthuisberg in Leuven, our research teams rely on dependable IT services to support their work. We are looking for an IT Officer to help keep those services reliable, secure and user-friendly.
We are looking for a motivated IT Officer for a full-time position in our local IT team. You will provide practical technical support to researchers and staff at Campus Gasthuisberg.
You will be part of a small and service-oriented IT team where tasks range from day -to-day support to practical service improvements. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys technology, problem-solving and working in a scientific environment. We are looking for a proactive colleague with strong communication and planning skills.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for users and devices.
- Provide 2nd line technical support for hardware, software and network-related issues.
- Support seminars and events with IT infrastructure and troubleshooting.
- Handle hardware lifecycle: procurement, deployment and asset tracking.
- Identify and implement practical improvements to IT services and applications, with a focus on the end-user experience.
- Coordinate and collaborate with specialized colleagues at KU Leuven ICTS, GBIOMED IT and VIB, as well as external partners.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
- Broad interest in hardware and software IT systems.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Creative thinker when faced with technical issues.
- Excellent customer service mindset and strong communication skills.
- Fluent in Dutch and English, written and spoken.
- Strong sense of responsibility and attention to quality.
Technical qualifications

Experience with client systems: Windows, macOS and Linux (Ubuntu, Rocky Linux).
- Basic networking knowledge, including IP, DNS and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, including Teams and SharePoint.
- Familiarity with IT support tools such as ticketing systems, device management platforms or monitoring tools is a plus.
- Scripting skills such as PowerShell, Python or Bash are a plus.
- Full-time employment with an open-ended contract.
