Job description
Wanna give your training a strong societal turn ?
We are currently looking for Master's students to join our Omics and Oncogenetics team. As an intern, you will contribute to research projects and data analyses within this unit, which is part of the Sciensano Cancer Centre.
The Sciensano Cancer Centre is a centre of expertise that supports and brings together stakeholders involved in cancer control through the scientific expertise of its researchers, in collaboration with healthcare professionals, patients, research and knowledge centres, and other national and international experts.
Our Centre coordinates and facilitates collaboration among stakeholders involved in cancer prevention and care, with a particular focus on scientific innovation aimed at improving the characterization of cancer cells and normal cells.
These innovative technologies are transforming cancer care across the entire patient pathway. They enable not only the development of treatments targeting specific molecular alterations, but also more accurate diagnosis, improved cancer risk assessment, and long-term patient follow-up. This rapidly evolving field is known as precision medicine.
For the 2026–2027 academic year, we offer four Master's thesis topics in the field of precision medicine:
Topic 1: Implementation of a paediatric precision cancer medicine program in Belgium.
Topic 2: Implementation of polygenic risk score in Belgium: contextual analysis, roadmap in light with other international initiatives
Topic 3: Contextual analysis and recommendations for the implementation of a genomic medicine program in Belgium in light with other international initiatives (scoping review).
Topic 4: Mapping the technology readiness and implementation of omics technologies in cancer research and care in Belgium

Data collection and analysis
Qualitative research
- Conduct interviews with healthcare professionals in Dutch and French.
Quantitative research
- Distribute and monitor a REDCap survey completed by healthcare professionals.
Literature review (Scoping Review)
- Contribute to the preparation and conduct of a scoping review of the scientific literature.
Profile
Your profile :
- Degree: Master's student in in Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology (with a strong interest in health sciences), Medical Anthropology, or a related field with an interest in healthcare implementation research.
- Soft skills: Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to analyze complex data. Strong professional integrity and attention to detail in performing tasks, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the results.
- Hard skills: Expertise in oncology or a strong interest in Implementation Science and healthcare, particularly in the fields of genomics, other omics technologies, genetic predisposition, and cancer. Good understanding of healthcare implementation research.
Language proficiency :
- Excellent command of the two Belgian national languages (Dutch AND French).
- An active, good command of the English language is essential.
