Senior Market Analyst

About the Role
As a Senior Market Analyst, you will play a key role in shaping Vertis' view of the carbon markets and translating complex market developments into actionable commercial insight. You will be responsible for conducting advanced market research, developing quantitative models and providing independent analysis that supports trading, sales and client activities.
You will work across the EU ETS, ETS2, power markets, shipping-related market mechanisms and other environmental markets, identifying market drivers, analysing regulatory and policy developments, and assessing their impact on market fundamentals and pricing. The role combines deep analytical work with direct exposure to commercial decision-making, allowing you to influence how Vertis and its clients navigate evolving carbon and environmental markets.
As one of the senior members of the team, you will be expected to lead complex research projects, contribute to Vertis' thought leadership through publications, webinars and conferences, and represent Vertis externally with market participants, industry stakeholders and clients. This role is ideally suited to an experienced market analyst who enjoys combining rigorous analysis with a practical commercial application in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving market environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market research and analysis with a primary focus on the EU ETS and related environmental markets, including ETS2, power markets and shipping-related mechanisms.
- Provide actionable market intelligence and insights to commercial teams and clients.
- Deliver complex research projects and translate market developments into commercially relevant conclusions.
- Develop and maintain quantitative models used to analyse and forecast market developments.
- Monitor market, regulatory and policy developments and assess their impact on market fundamentals and pricing.
- Support business initiatives and strategic projects through research, analysis and market expertise.
- Represent Vertis externally through publications, webinars, conferences, media engagements and relationships with market stakeholders.

- Significant experience in and excellent understanding of carbon, energy and environmental markets.
- Strong quantitative and data analysis skills.
- Ability to translate complex market developments into clear and commercially relevant insights.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Independent judgement and objective analytical thinking.
- High level of integrity and regulatory awareness.
- Proactive, adaptable and solution-oriented.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, Reuters or similar market information platforms.
- Programming skills (Python or similar) are considered an advantage.
