AKAI is seeking a passionate, elegant and driven Chef de Rang to join our service team and help deliver the unique experience that defines our restaurant.
Located on the 30th floor of Cardo Brussels, AKAI combines contemporary Asian-Mediterranean cuisine, exceptional cocktails, music and panoramic views in a vibrant, high-end environment.
We are looking for someone who understands that great hospitality is about more than serving food — it is about creating memorable moments, anticipating guests' needs and making every service feel effortless.
Your responsibilities
- Take responsibility for your assigned tables and ensure a smooth, professional and attentive service.
- Welcome guests warmly and create a memorable experience from arrival to departure.
- Have excellent knowledge of the menu and be able to confidently explain dishes, ingredients and recommendations.
- Advise guests on food, wine, cocktails and other beverages.
- Coordinate closely with the kitchen, bar and other members of the service team.
- Ensure that your section is perfectly prepared before, during and after service.
- Anticipate guest needs and handle requests or concerns with professionalism and care.
- Support and guide commis and junior team members during service.
- Maintain high standards of service, presentation, cleanliness and hospitality.
- Contribute to the energy, atmosphere and team culture of AKAI.
- Be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Core skills
- Proven experience as a Chef de Rang or in a similar high-level service position.
- Excellent knowledge of restaurant service techniques and hospitality standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage your own section efficiently during busy services.
- Natural ability to anticipate guest needs and create a memorable experience.
- Professional, elegant and confident attitude.
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
- Strong team spirit and willingness to support colleagues.
Bonus skills
- Experience in a high-end or fine-dining restaurant.
- Experience in a festive, lifestyle or high-energy restaurant environment.
- Good knowledge of wines and/or cocktails.
- Knowledge or interest in Japanese and Asian cuisine.
- Additional languages, particularly Dutch, French or Spanish.
- Experience with VIP guests and events.
Minimum Requirements
- Previous experience in a Chef de Rang, Rangkelner or equivalent position.
- Fluency in English and either French or Dutch.
- Excellent presentation and professional communication.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant service and guest relations.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail.
- Genuine passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences.
- A positive, respectful and team-oriented attitude.
