Within the Faculty of Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Urban Planning and the Louvain research institute for Landscape, Architecture, Built environment, Science and Technology Sector, this position will include the following teaching, research and community service duties:
You will teach mainly in the field of:
- Architectural design, integrating knowledge about the uses and representations of dwelling at all scales and in different contexts (urban, peri-urban, and rural). This knowledge is grounded in the discipline of architecture and related domains such as sociology, anthropology, etc.
- Possibly, architectural design studio with an emphasis on the social, political, and cultural dimensions of dwelling production.
You will teach in various study programmes managed by the faculty and also supervise master's theses.
The position is administratively assigned to the site of LOCI St Gilles, where most courses will be taught.
However, teaching activities may be conducted both on the sites of LOCI St Gilles and LOCI Tournai.
You will develop your research activities, including the lead of research programs, in the field of dwelling design, focusing on:
- Questions of emancipation, coexistence, and social and cultural inclusion at different scales of the dwelling (from housing to territory). This research would explore questions such as alternative housing forms, the re-emergence of commons, participatory and co-production processes, the organization of migrants’ accommodation, emergency housing, aging, etc.
- Questions of adequacy of architectural layouts with regards to practices, aspirations, and social and cultural representations.
You will be responsible for the supervision of PhD theses.
Research activities may be conducted across the three sites of the LAB institute.
Once tenured, you will carry out various service activities and responsibilities within the institution, such as being a member of a programme committee or examination committee, or having management responsibilities within the faculty or research institute. These services will be provided within the multi-site framework of the faculty and the institute.
You will also contribute to serving society, particularly in the economic, social, cultural or development cooperation fields. Finally, you will ensure, through research and teaching activities, the university’s international visibility.
