As Group Compliance Officer , you will be part of the Group Legal department of Unilin, located in Wielsbeke . We are a dynamic team that provides high quality support to the different business divisions of Unilin Group on all legal matters such as contract negotiations, corporate projects (M&A, restructuring, JV’s etc.), litigations, real estate transactions, trademarks and general compliance and regulatory topics.
Due to the continuously evolving and complex regulatory landscape Unilin is operating in, we have decided to create a new role for a compliance professional who will strengthen the legal department.
We are looking for a pragmatic, dynamic and enthusiastic team player who can support our businesses and who can shape this new role to fit the needs of the organization.
The Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring the company's compliance framework to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. The role supports the promotion of an ethical business culture and mitigates legal, regulatory, operational, and reputational risks across the organization.
Unilin is an entrepreneurial company operating in a manufacturing environment, so the Compliance Officer will work closely with operational, procurement, supply chain, sales, HR, finance, quality/technical teams and management teams.
Role description :
- You will be responsible to shape and design the compliance function within a large manufacturing company with plants in Europe, Brazil, Malaysia, etc.
- You will enjoy the advantage of being part of a global group while the headquarters of Unilin Group are located in Belgium.
- You will manage the compliance scope independently and coordinate roll-out of new initiatives across all locations of Unilin Group in a solution-oriented and pragmatic way, while taking into account the specific needs of the organization.
- You will report to the Group Legal Director.
Key Responsibilities :
Compliance Program Management
- Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s compliance program.
- Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
- Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate standards.
- Conduct periodic compliance risk assessments, recommend mitigation measures and periodic reporting to management on compliance topics.
- Maintain compliance registers, risk maps, and action plans.
Regulatory Monitoring
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting manufacturing operations in all countries where Unilin Group is active.
- Assess the implications of new regulations and coordinate implementation of required actions.
- Advise management and business stakeholders on compliance obligations on a variety of regulatory and compliance related topics.
- Coordinate with external advisors where necessary.
Ethics & Code of Conduct
- Promote adherence to the company's Code of Conduct and ethical standards.
- Support awareness initiatives designed to strengthen a culture of integrity and compliance.
- Provide practical guidance to employees regarding ethical and compliance-related issues.
Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees and management.
- Coordinate periodic compliance communications and awareness campaigns.
- Monitor completion of mandatory compliance training.
- Maintain training records and compliance documentation.
Third-Party Compliance
- Develop and manage due diligence processes for suppliers, distributors, agents, consultants, and other third parties in close cooperation with other departments.
- Assess third-party compliance risks and recommend mitigating controls.
- Support contract compliance clauses.
- Monitor high-risk third-party relationships.
WHO ARE YOU?
- You have a Master degree (Master in Law or Economics or equivalent) and you have at least 5 years of experience.
- Ideally you have gained 3-7 years of experience in a compliance, legal, risk management, internal audit or other regulatory or governance role.
- Experience in an industrial, manufacturing or engineering company or related sector and familiarity with a multinational business environment is preferred.
- You have excellent communication skills (written and oral) in Dutch and English. Good knowledge of French and German is considered a strong plus.
- You like to work in a demanding environment with strict deadlines and numerous stakeholders in a global organization.
