Business Architect – Job Description
Role Purpose
The Business Architect plays a key role within the Transformation Office by bridging business strategy and IT execution. The role ensures that transformation initiatives are aligned with AXA’s strategic objectives, operational realities, and target operating model. Acting as a trusted advisor and change enabler, the Business Architect supports the organization in delivering sustainable business value, driving innovation, and ensuring consistency across people, processes, technology, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
Business Architecture & Transformation

Define and maintain business architecture views across people, processes, capabilities, and tools for key transformation initiatives.

Translate business strategy into actionable transformation roadmaps and target operating models.

Ensure initiatives support long-term structural solutions, IT delivery predictability, and effective cost management.

Define and challenge the “Why” and “What” of business initiatives while supporting demand management and domain entry discussions.

Drive digital transformation and innovation through business process evolution and capability development.

Ensure IT investments generate measurable business value and sustainable competitive advantage.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory

Partner closely with business leaders and operational teams to understand strategic priorities, business challenges, and transformation goals.

Act as a trusted advisor on business and IT impacts related to ongoing and future initiatives.

Collaborate with Transformation Office teams, architects, and IT delivery teams to co-design pragmatic and innovative solutions.

Foster strong relationships across business and IT communities and contribute to a collaborative “One Team” culture.

Coach and support stakeholders and colleagues in business architecture methodologies, governance, and transformation practices.
Governance & Operating Model

Promote and apply the AXA Belgium Transformation Target Operating Model (TOM) and governance framework.

Contribute to enterprise-wide business capability modeling and integrated architecture governance.

Support the continuous improvement and safeguarding of Transformation Office standards, methodologies, and best practices.

Ensure architectural consistency and alignment across projects, programs, and domains.

Provide guidance to project teams to ensure solutions remain aligned with the approved business architecture.
Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing

Contribute actively to Business Architecture and Transformation Office communities of practice.

Share lessons learned, market trends, and external insights to support continuous improvement and innovation.

Present and contribute topics during team meetings and architecture forums.

Encourage transversal collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams and domains.

Coach colleagues and support capability growth within the team.
Profile & Competencies

Strong understanding of business architecture principles, transformation methodologies, and operating models.

Ability to connect strategic objectives with operational execution and technology capabilities.
