The Sustainable Solutions Group team provides sustainable financing solutions to clients through its regional hubs in Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Madrid, Vienna, Dubai, Warsaw, New York and teams across APAC. To drive the business further we seek to attract a Sustainable Solutions Group Associate / Vice President. We are looking for an entrepreneurial professional who would enjoy to further grow this sustainable business, by joining the regional Belux / Nordics Sustainable Solutions Group Brussels team.
Job description / Responsibilities
Sustainable Solutions Group Brussels is looking for a Sustainable Finance Expert who will:
- Conduct ESG profile analysis on WB clients through research with an emphasis on sustainability strategy and performance.
- Competently work on origination of sustainable deals across WB products by adhering to ING’s applied standards (f.i. high quality pitch books tailored to our client’s profile).
- Work with the Relationship managers of the WB sector teams, the sustainability sector leads as well as the dedicated sector responsible persons within Sustainable Solutions Group so that sector knowledge is well integrated in client discussions.
- Be able to build up client interaction (both on sustainability strategy & WB products) and manage a deal process from origination to execution, with other deal team members and external deal participants, to result in a successful deal signing, in close collaboration with the regional Sustainable Solutions Group lead.
- Assessing external ‘green’, ‘social’, ‘sustainable’ or ‘transition’ criteria, incl. ESG ratings and relevant regulatory developments (f.i. EU Taxonomy) and applying these to ING’s proposed sustainable solutions.
- Helping clients achieve their sustainability ambitions while optimizing balance sheet efficiency, capital allocation, funding diversification and risk management objectives
- Maintaining data quality, incl. populating internal databases and keeping track of market developments.
- Based on proven financial structuring capabilities, support clients together with the relevant sector & advisory teams, to translate their sustainability strategy in their financing strategy.
- Act as a trusted advisor to corporate clients by combining sustainability expertise with deep knowledge of financing structures, treasury considerations and balance sheet strategy.
- Translate ESG market dynamics and regulatory developments into advisory and financing solutions with clients
- Structure, together with the relevant sector and advisory teams, innovative financing and advisory solutions that support clients' transition pathways while meeting financial, regulatory and stakeholder objectives
- Support the regional lead in preparing internal & external profiling to put ING's sustainable business initiatives on the map for employees, clients, peers, and other stakeholders

The Sustainable Solutions Group Associate / VP is expected to be:
- Client focused: client engagement is the key priority in further strengthening the sustainability profile of our clients and drive the Sustainable Solutions Group business;
- Analytical & creative mindset;
- Entrepreneurial spirit to drive the business in the region;
- Able to service clients with a product agnostic mindset;
- Experienced in origination and execution of transactions with a minimum of 5-7 year of commercial experience (ideally both financial transactions experience in structured finance, debt capital markets, credit analysis and/or deal structuring, and / or sustainability related roles) with sufficient active client-facing front-office experience. Experience with sustainability-related transactions is a plus; Ability to mobilize the organization in a collaborative spirit;
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to bridge sustainability, finance and treasury disciplines.
- A good network with external stakeholders regarding sustainable developments;
- A Master degree holder in Business / Finance or other relevant disciplines
- Professional experience in ESG / Sustainability related content (banking / industry / regulatory / …) Sustainability related academic background is a positive;
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
