As a Principal Technology Architect at TVH, you are the steward of the enterprise technology landscape.
You define and maintain the technology target architecture across cloud, hybrid, on-premise and edge, and ensure that platform-level choices (compute, integration, runtime, observability, networking) are coherent, future-proof, and aligned with TVH’s IT strategy. You operate at the cross-cutting layer of the architecture practice: your decisions enable Solution Architects to deliver and Platform Teams to build on stable, well-governed foundations.
You report to the Head of Enterprise Architecture and collaborate closely with the Enterprise Architect, Domain Architects, Cybersecurity Architect, Data Architect and Integration Architect within the Solution Architecture Board (SAB) and Enterprise Architecture Board (EAB).
Technology Strategy and Roadmaps
Define and maintain TVH’s technology target architecture across the Enterprise Technology Domain.
Translate IT strategy into multi-year technology roadmaps, identifying when to evolve, consolidate, or retire platforms.f
Guide TVH’s evolution across cloud, hybrid, on-premise and edge - making trade-offs between vendor commitments, operational cost, agility and risk explicit.
Initiate and sponsor Technology Strategy-driven initiatives when cross-domain signals point to a shared technology enabler.
Reference Architecture and Standards
Author and curate the Enterprise Technology Reference Architecture, being the catalogue of approved technology building blocks and their target-state usage.
Define technology standards, patterns, and design principles that Solution Architects apply in their Solution Architecture Documents.
Maintain TVH’s technology decision records and ADRs for cross-cutting choices, ensuring lifecycle status is up to date.
Strategic Steering & Board Participation
Chair the Solution Architecture Board (SAB) and represent the technology perspective in the Enterprise Architecture Board (EAB), reviewing Solution Architecture Documents for alignment with technology standards and the target architecture.
Provide input on Solution Architecture Documents, with formal sign-off on solutions impacting the Enterprise Technology Domain.
Spend approximately 80% of your time on strategic steering and continuous architecture, and 20% on project-specific design work.
Platform Collaboration
Partner with Platform, Cloud and Operations teams: they build and operate the platforms; you set the architectural direction and acceptance criteria.
Validate platform-level NFRs (performance, scalability, resilience, observability, cost) for proposed solutions.
Identify technology debt and propose remediation roadmaps to the Head of Enterprise Architecture and CIO.
