You will concentrate on what we call the back end of Business Intelligence:
Managing and customising the ETL or ELT process (Extract, transform, load)
Setting up and customising data integrations and data modelling (SSIS , SSAS, SSRS)
You will be using Microsoft data services on-premise or in Azure, or a combination of both. Understanding the front end of BI is important. So, in due course, you will also get experience in reporting and visualising in Power BI.
Project-based or long-term assignments, all options are on the table. Depending on the assignment, you may be working on your own or in a team, taking care of the project management yourself or not. Participating in pre-sales is also a possibility. The trump cards of this job are variety and continuous learning through experience.
But don’t worry.
The roles within assignments and their complexity will be tailored to you: sufficiently challenging for learning and not over your head. If you demonstrate a keenness to learn, independence and initiative, you will be absolutely fine.
