At Materialise Software, we believe that better manufacturing starts with smarter, more connected workflows. If you’re passionate about helping companies make additive manufacturing more efficient, scalable, and reliable, you’ll love being a part of this team. Through the software we develop, organizations are managing the entire additive manufacturing process more efficiently and achieving the highest 3D printing standards.
About the role
We are looking for a Senior UX Designer with at least 8 years of experience to lead the design of complex, enterprise-grade B2B software. The challenge here is not visual polish alone. It is making sense of dense, real-world workflows and turning them into clear, efficient interfaces that expert users trust and rely on every day.
You will join a small, cross-functional product team and work closely with Product Management and Engineering to take design from discovery through delivery. This is a senior individual-contributor role with real influence. You will own significant design work yourself while also helping raise the quality of the team through critique, mentoring, and the standard you set. You will report to the UX Manager.
You will fit well if you are genuinely strong in the craft, comfortable with complexity, and work like a modern designer: evidence-led, disciplined about delivery, and fluent in using AI as a practical working tool.
What you will do
- Own UX design for complex product areas end-to-end, from discovery and problem framing through design, validation, and handoff.
- Plan and run your own research and workshops with users and stakeholders, including interviews, usability testing, journey mapping, and card sorting, and turn what you learn into clear decisions.
- Design workflows, information architecture, user flows, and prototypes that hold up in critique and sign-off, including edge cases and error states, not just the happy path.
- Build realistic prototypes using UI component libraries and front-end code so they behave like the product rather than a static mockup.
- Contribute to the design system and work closely with Product and Engineering early in the process rather than presenting solutions late.
- Use AI across your workflow to move faster, while taking ownership of and verifying every output that carries your name.
What we are looking for
Must-have
- 8+ years of experience designing complex B2B, enterprise, SaaS, technical, or workflow-heavy products, with ownership from discovery through delivery.
- You can show how you validated a problem before designing and how evidence shaped the outcome.
- You plan and run your own research and workshops, using both qualitative and quantitative methods, rather than only observing them.
- Strong craft across interaction design, user flows, information architecture, prototyping, and usability, with work that is complete and decisions you can clearly explain.
- Comfortable working close to the front-end: you can use component libraries and production code to build realistic prototypes, and you are willing to go deep when needed. You do not need to be an engineer.
- Builder-level AI fluency. You have integrated tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, GitHub Copilot, and VS Code into your daily work, including small apps, automations, or agentic workflows. You have good judgment about where AI helps, where it falls short, and how to verify its output.
- You have contributed to a design system that other teams actively used, and you understand how design tokens connect design and code.
- Strong ownership and follow-through: you make plans, surface risks early, document decisions, and keep work moving without needing to be chased.
- You communicate clearly and respond constructively to feedback: you investigate it, address it, and adjust visibly.
Nice to have
- Experience in a technical, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
- A track record of mentoring designers or raising the quality bar of a team.
How we work
We value designers who are:
- Pragmatic when deadlines are tight, while staying thoughtful about complexity.
- Collaborative, open, and stronger because of feedback, not despite it.
- Proactive and curious, with pride in the quality of what they ship.
Why join us
You will shape product experiences in a genuinely complex environment where UX has real impact. This role is for someone who enjoys hard problems, works closely with Product and Engineering, uses modern tools to move quickly, and wants to build software that expert users can rely on every day. You will join a small, senior team with room to influence how great work gets done.
