YOUR TASKS
- You will assist in the practice-based teaching at the department Languages and Cultures focusing on assignments for long-life learning, the Humanities Academy, course units within the Enlight programme and workshops for secondary schools and teachers.
- You will be responsible for organizing and facilitating exercises and workshops in the context of long-life learning, the Humanities Academy, course units within the Enlight programme and workshops for secondary schools and teachers.
- You will be responsible for developing (or helping to develop) educational materials in the context of long-life learning, the Humanities Academy, course units within the Enlight programme and workshops for secondary schools and teachers.
- You will help to enhance the internal, external and international visibility and outreach of the Languages and Cultures programme, and to promote the social importance of cultural and linguistic diversity.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a degree of Master in Arts and Philosophy with a demonstrable affinity for languages and cultures, and an appreciation of the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
- You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of teaching in long-life assignments, course units in the context of Enlight, and workshops for secondary schools and teachers.
- You have experience in teaching and/or developing educational materials for a diverse audience. Ideally, you also have experience with digital working environments and tools.
- You possess the necessary teaching, communication and organizational skills to carry out assignments for a diverse audience and to strengthen the visibility of these assignments.
- You have an excellent knowledge of Dutch, both written and spoken, and a good command of English.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you an appointment until 31 January 2028, which may be renewed indefinitely for five years at a time. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University
- Your appointment will start on 1 October 2026 at the earliest
- Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP3. More information about our salary scales
