Beyond its strategic location at the heart of Europe, HEC Liège has developed a strong and diversified
international footprint extending well beyond the continent. The School is particularly active in key
regions such as Asia, Morocco, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, where it has established long-
standing academic partnerships, joint programs, and executive education initiatives. These international
engagements contribute not only to the School’s global visibility but also to the diversification of its
activities and revenue streams.
Governance
HEC Liège governance model grants it substantial autonomy in strategic, financial, and operational
matters, supported by its own administration, and has always been considered as one of its strengths.
It is built on two key principles.
- Representativeness. It lies on the active involvement of all internal stakeholders, including
students, as well as external partners, across both advisory and decision-making bodies.
- Consistency. The University of Liège is represented within both the School Board and the
Executive Education Board, while advisory bodies appoint corporate representatives to the
School Board, the Executive Education Board, and the University’s Board of Directors. This
reciprocal representation fosters strong alignment between academic governance and the
needs of the economic environment, while maintaining close ties with the University’s
decision-making bodies to ensure overall institutional coherence.
From an operational standpoint, the Management Board is responsible for strategy implementation
and day-to-day operations, while the School Board, fully representative of all internal and external
stakeholders, serves as the main decision-making body. Major decisions are ultimately validated at the
University level by the Board of Directors, ensuring alignment, accountability, and institutional
coherence.
HEC Liège governance environment is supported by a range of advisory bodies. The General
Assembly ensures strong internal representation and engagement. High-level advisory boards
composed of business leaders actively contribute to the School’s strategic positioning and development.
The Governance Council, who plays a pivotal role in shaping strategy and overseeing financial
performance, with direct links to both the School Board and the University’s Board of Directors, and
dedicated bodies including HEC Connect, the Alumni Advisory Board, and the International Scientific
Committee, supporting the School’s growth, fundraising, and research ambitions.
