Project Manager – Finance Portfolio
Role Overview
Honda Motor Europe is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Finance Portfolio team within ISD. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a diverse portfolio of finance-related projects, ranging from business process improvements and finance transformation initiatives to ERP implementation, regulatory, reporting, and digitalization projects.
This role requires a strong project management professional who combines proven delivery expertise with a solid understanding of finance processes and business operations. The Project Manager will work closely with Finance leadership, business stakeholders, solution architects, external partners, and delivery teams to ensure successful project execution from initiation through deployment and business adoption.
In addition to managing multiple concurrent projects, the role includes responsibility for test management, cutover planning, business readiness, deployment coordination, and go-live governance of larger projects where required.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Delivery & Governance
- Lead multiple projects across the Finance portfolio, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, timeline, and quality expectations.
- Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, resource plans, RAID logs, and governance documentation.
- Apply established project management methodologies and governance standards across all initiatives.
- Provide regular status reporting and executive updates to sponsors, steering committees, and senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with PMO standards, stage gate requirements, and delivery frameworks.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with Finance business leaders and key stakeholders.
- Facilitate decision-making, drive alignment across departments, and manage competing priorities.
- Act as the primary escalation point for project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Coordinate activities across business teams, IT delivery teams, external suppliers, and system integrators.
Finance Transformation Projects
- Lead projects supporting Finance process transformation and optimization.
- Ensure solutions align with Finance operating models, governance standards, and business objectives.
- Support initiatives related to:
- Procure-to-Pay (P2P)
- Order-to-Cash (O2C)
- Record-to-Report (R2R)
- Treasury & Cash Management
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Master Data and Process Governance
Risk, Change & Quality Management
- Proactively identify project risks and dependencies.
- Drive mitigation actions and escalation where necessary.
- Manage scope changes through formal change control processes.
- Ensure project deliverables meet agreed quality standards and business expectations.
Cutover & Deployment Management
- Lead cutover planning and deployment activities for relevant projects.
- Develop and govern cutover plans, deployment schedules, and readiness assessments.
- Coordinate business readiness, training, support preparedness, communications, and operational transition activities.
- Drive go/no-go decision processes and executive readiness reviews.
- Manage deployment risks, fallback strategies, and hypercare coordination.
- Ensure successful transition into business-as-usual operations.
Continuous Improvement
- Capture lessons learned and promote best practices across the Finance Portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery effectiveness, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute to the evolution of project management standards and portfolio management processes.
Required Experience
- Minimum 8 years of project management experience delivering complex business and IT projects.
- Proven experience managing Finance-related projects and transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Finance processes
- Experience within SAP ERP environments, preferably SAP S/4HANA programmes.
- Experience managing cross-functional and international project teams.
- Demonstrated experience in vendor and system integrator management.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience managing deployment, cutover, or go-live activities within large-scale transformation programmes.
