We are looking for an R&D Engineer (Electronics) to join our Research & Development department in Antwerp. You will contribute to the development of new physical measurement techniques to study compressors, designing and implementing electronic boards and embedded systems for real-time data acquisition.
This position is open to:
- Recent PhD graduates (Physics / Electronics / Embedded Systems or related fields)
- Engineers with 2–3 years of relevant experience in R&D
As an R&D Engineer, you will:
- Design and develop electronic boards/PCBs to be integrated into measurement devices for compressors
- Define and implement new physical measurement methods and sensors for real-time monitoring of key parameters
- Develop embedded software (firmware) for data acquisition, signal processing and communication
- Participate in the full development cycle: specifications, design, prototyping, testing, validation and documentation
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, test, data, etc.) to integrate your solutions into existing systems
- Analyze measurement results, contribute to experimental setups and propose improvements to measurement accuracy and reliability
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety and reliability standards for all developed solutions
Profile we are looking for
Education & background
- Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems or related field
- R&D mindset with strong interest in experimental setups and physical measurements
- Either:
- PhD with research experience in measurement techniques / instrumentation / embedded systems, or
- 2–3 years of experience as R&D Engineer, Research Associate, or similar role in electronics/embedded systems
Technical skills
- Solid knowledge of physics and physical measurement principles (sensors, signals, noise, calibration, etc.)
- Strong foundations in C and C++ for embedded development (microcontrollers, real-time systems)
- Experience in PCB design using professional tools
- Good understanding of electronic circuit design (analog and/or digital), signal conditioning and data acquisition
- Experience with embedded systems (MCUs, communication protocols, RTOS is a plus)
- Ability to prototype, test and debug electronic boards and embedded software
Soft skills
- Passion for embedded systems and electronics applied to real-world physical problems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly about technical topics
- Proactive, able to propose new ideas and innovative solutions
Languages
- English: fluent (spoken and written)
- Other languages are a plus, but not required
