YOUR TASKS
- The Department of Conflict and Development Studies at Ghent University is looking for an enthusiastic and qualified teaching assistant (M/F/X). The teaching assistant will assist in the English Bachelor of Social Sciences
- You will assist in the practice-based teaching at the department, supporting the development of program wide pedagogical tools.
- You will implement and fine-tune digital educational tools (e.g. implementing content on learning paths on Ufora, Peer Assessment, online proctoring, online quizzes, online tutorials, video tutorials,…).
- You will digitalize and streamline educational processes (e.g. develop templates for completing and grading assignments, develop feedback rubrics,…).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a degree of Master in Political and Social Sciences (preferably), Humanities or similar program.
- The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment
- For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted
- You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of the practice-based teaching at the department
- You are interested in a teaching assignment in the field concerned
- You are interested in academic and/or project-based research and services
- Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended
- You are familiar with digital educational tools (e.g. learning paths on digital learning platforms, etc.)
- You have experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods in social sciences.
Good English language skills: oral and in writing.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you an appointment until 31 December 2027, which will not be renewed.
- Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University
- Your appointment will start on 1 September 2026 at the earliest
- Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP3. More information about our salary scales
