For Courtyard by Marriott Ghent, we are looking for a motivated student worker to support our Maintenance Department with an important hotel-wide preventive room inspection project during the coming months.
This is a unique opportunity to gain practical technical experience in a newly opened international hotel environment while working alongside an experienced maintenance team.
As a Student Maintenance Assistant, you will help carry out preventive technical inspections in all hotel rooms to ensure they meet Marriott brand standards.
You will work closely with the Maintenance team and help complete one hotel floor per week based on a detailed checklist.
Your responsibilities
- Enter and inspect hotel rooms using technical checklists
- Check the functionality of lighting and room equipment
- Identify damages and technical issues
- Perform small maintenance tasks and repairs
- Carry out minor sanitary repairs such as:
- replacing toilet seats
- resolving clogged showers
- Read and check door battery systems
- Report technical findings accurately
- Help ensure all rooms meet Marriott quality standards
Attention to detail and accurate control checks are extremely important in this role.
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are currently studying in a technical field, preferably at TSO or BSO level, with a focus on areas such as construction, electricity, plumbing/sanitary techniques or building technologies.
- You enjoy practical, hands-on work and feel comfortable solving small technical issues independently. You have an eye for detail and like making sure everything is properly checked and functioning correctly.
- You are technically minded, reliable and motivated to learn in a professional hotel environment. Whether it’s identifying damages, carrying out minor repairs or completing detailed room inspections, you take pride in working accurately and responsibly.
- You speak Dutch and/or English and are available to work during weekdays and/or weekends.
- You can either start immediately with a minimum availability of 2 full working days per week or you are available from July 1st for a minimum period of 3 consecutive weeks. Working hours are between 9 AM and 5 PM and flexible scheduling can be discussed together.
- Previous work experience is not required. Your motivation, technical insight and willingness to help are what matter most.
