The Works Procurement Team at Elia Group is looking for a driven buyer for cable and line works to join our dynamic team in Belgium.
The Elia Group Procurement Team is based in Brussels and also at the 50Hertz head office in Berlin. The department is playing a crucial role in the construction of Elia and 50Hertz grid infrastructure and, by doing this, contributing actively and directly to the energy transition. More specifically, the Works Team is responsible for the strategic procurement of contracts for the performance of works on the energy grid. This includes:
- electrical and civil engineering work in the high-voltage substations;
- works on the pylons for our high-voltage lines;
works for our underground cable connections.

As the Strategic Buyer, you will have the following tasks:
- Managing the entire procurement process, including market publication, tender analysis, negotiations, tender evaluations and the awarding of projects;
- Taking the lead in the setting up of tendering procedures;
- Defining and implementing project procurement strategies based on your market knowledge;
- Working side by side with passionate colleagues and internal experts to understand the needs of our projects and align them with the market;
- Building expertise (both market and technical knowledge) within your category to contribute to the 'category strategy' that will determine the direction taken by this category in the (medium) long term;
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to identify improvements and opportunities.

Also:
- Sharing your market and category knowledge with other internal stakeholders when negotiating contractual terms;
- Supporting the project teams or contract managers with the commercial and contractual follow-up of projects in progress. This includes: monitoring and negotiating additional costs charged and ensuring that the contractual terms are met (quality, planning, safety, etc.);
- Building sustainable relationships with contractors, in close collaboration with the Supplier Manager;
- Liaising with your counterpart at 50Hertz (Berlin, Germany) to share insights.
