Are you an experienced Contract Manager with a strong interest in offshore renewable energy? At Jan De Nul Group, you will play a key role in the contract management of international offshore wind and renewable energy projects, based in Aalst (Hofstade), Belgium.
Jan De Nul Group delivers specialised services for the offshore renewable energy market, including offshore wind farms, subsea cables and umbilicals, seabed intervention works, rock installation and ballasting. Depending on the needs of our clients, we provide integrated solutions on an EPC basis.
As our Offshore Renewables activities continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Contract Manager to be responsible for the contractual and commercial aspects of complex international projects.
You will work closely with project management, tender engineering, legal, commercial and operational teams, protecting Jan De Nul's interests throughout the project lifecycle, from tender to execution and close-out.
Based in Aalst, Belgium, you will support projects worldwide.
Your Role
As a Contract Manager Offshore Renewables, you take ownership of the contractual management of complex offshore wind and renewable energy projects.
You act as a key player in the project team, identifying contractual risks and opportunities and translating technical and operational developments into effective contractual and commercial strategies.
Your responsibilities include:

Managing contractual aspects of offshore renewable energy projects throughout their lifecycle.

Identifying and managing contractual risks, opportunities and commercial exposure.

Preparing and substantiating claims, variations, extensions of time and additional costs.

Drafting contractual correspondence and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and notice requirements.

Leading and supporting contractual and commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

Reviewing and negotiating subcontracts and supplier agreements.

Advising project teams on contractual matters and appropriate mitigation strategies.

Supporting the resolution of contractual disputes in close cooperation with the legal department.

Working with Tender Engineering during the tender phase to identify contractual risks and opportunities.

Sharing knowledge and lessons learned and contributing to the further development of Contract Management within Offshore Renewables.
The position is based in Aalst (Hofstade), Belgium, with an international scope and occasional travel to our worldwide projects.
What do you need?
You have a higher degree in Law, Engineering, Finance, Business Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, combined with 7–10 years of relevant experience in contract or commercial project management.
You have a strong understanding of contractual and commercial principles and can translate complex technical and operational matters into effective contractual strategies.
In addition, you have:

Client facing experience at project management level and/or above.

Proven experience with claims, variations, contractual correspondence and negotiations.

Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

Experience in managing contractual risks and commercial interests in complex projects.

Experience working in an international and multidisciplinary environment.

A pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership.

Excellent command of English; knowledge of Dutch or other languages is an asset.

A strong interest in offshore wind, offshore energy and the renewable energy transition.

Willingness to occasionally travel internationally.
Experience in offshore wind, offshore energy, subsea or marine projects is a strong asset.
