The Incinerator Operator II is responsible for assisting the Facilities manager with overseeing the daily operations of the incinerator units by observing conveyor operations and monitoring lights, dials, and gauges to maintain specified operating levels and to detect equipment malfunctions. Safely performs various solid waste activities to include solid waste refuse and recyclable materials collection, sorting, incineration, and disposal.
Responsible for operating, and monitoring incinerator start up and shut down, waste incineration and accessory equipment to include scrubbers, fans, kilns, pumps, values, conveyors and other related equipment as needed to insure safe, efficient, and effective incineration processes in accordance with permits and compliance regulations in the disposal and discharge of solid and liquid waste products.

Performs safely various solid waste activities to include solid waste refuse and recyclable materials collection, sorting, incineration, and disposal.

Record production data such as weights, types, quantities, and storage locations of materials, as well as equipment performance problems and downtime

Load, unload, or adjust materials or products on conveyors by hand, by using lifts, hoists, and scoops, or by opening gates, chutes, or hoppers

Stop equipment or machinery and clear jams, using poles, bars, and hand tools, or remove damaged materials from conveyors

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

High school diploma or equivalent

Basic understanding of combustion and emission control systems

Ability to read gauges, record data, and follow operating procedures

Valid driver’s license

Experience:
-
4-5 years of incinerator waste disposal experience

Certifications:
-
OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Card (required within 90 days of hire)

Incinerator Operations Training Certificate (Preferred)
-
HAZWOPER 24-Hour (required within 90 days of hire)
-
First Aid / CPR (required within 90 days of hire)

Working Conditions:
-
Must be capable of working in a tropical weather condition with temperatures exceeding 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 85 degrees in the summer months).

Physical Requirements:

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
