Description
As a Project Engineer, you will play an active role in the technical aspects of developing SECO’s activities in the maritime sector (port projects) and complex infrastructure projects (such as bridges, tunnels, etc.) in the Belgian and international markets (Europe and worldwide).
These activities are developed in collaboration with the International Director and in synergy with operations in the home markets of the Benelux.
Functionally, the Project Engineer will be based in SECO’s international department.
From a technical perspective, the Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing technical aspects across a wide range of projects in the civil engineering sector. He or she is (jointly) responsible for monitoring the design and construction phases through to the completion of the project.
TECHNICAL
You are a civil engineer specialising in construction.
You have experience in carrying out complex calculations and are generally comfortable with structures, geotechnical engineering, natural forces and stability analyses. You have a good knowledge of international codes and standards.
You are interested in various techniques used in civil engineering structures and their relevance to design processes.
You have an eye for and an interest in technical details and are technically excellent in this regard.
DEVELOPMENT
You have 10 to 15 years’ experience in civil engineering design.
An excellent command of Italian and English is essential. Knowledge of Dutch, French or Spanish is an advantage.
You possess excellent interpersonal and, above all, communication skills, enabling you to discuss technical details with both technical and non-technical colleagues. You are able to listen proactively to clients and translate their needs into clear technical work packages.

The head office is located in the centre of Brussels. The operational headquarters is in Diegem. Both locations are easily accessible by public transport and by car (private car park and charging points provided). SECO also has satellite offices in Ghent, Brussels and Namur. Working from home is possible on a part-time basis.
