The Mehta Lab at KU Leuven studies plant chronobiology for climate adaptation.
We are looking for a motivated student to support our researchers with the daily operations of the lab and routine plant care.
Your tasks may include:
- Assisting in daily lab tasks such as preparing growth media and reagents, and autoclaving consumables needed for experiments
- Helping with plant care, such as sowing, sticking, seed collection and washing pots
- Supporting ongoing experiments (helping with setup, simple measurements, cleanup)
- Maintaining lab organization and cleanliness
- Following all lab safety procedures
You’ll work closely with researchers and lab technicians in an international and collaborative environment.

We’re looking for someone who:
- Is currently enrolled as a student in a scientific field (biomedical laboratory technology, biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, agrotechnology etc.)
- Can work 8 hours per week (schedule flexible, in agreement with the lab team)
- Is reliable, careful, and attentive to detail
- Has an interest in plant work or laboratory research
- Communicates well in English (Dutch is a plus, not required)
Practical details
- Period: Starting from October 2026 until February 2027 with the potential for extension
- Working hours: 8 hours per week, planned in consultation with the lab team. Work is performed during regular weekday lab hours (8:00–18:00). Hours can be divided over a maximum of two to three days depending on the task at hand.
