Staff Database Engineer (C++) at BairesDev
We’re looking for a Staff Database Engineer who knows C++ and has spent serious time inside the engine — the query planner, the execution layer, the parts most engineers never see. You’ve worked on distributed database systems at scale, you understand how to tune performance from the CPU up, and you know how to bring other engineers along on that work. You’ll be contributing to query engine infrastructure that handles analytics workloads for some of the largest data environments in the world, in a role where your technical decisions carry real weight.
What You’ll Do:
- Architect and develop database engine components in C++, focused on query execution performance and scalability.
- Own performance tuning at the CPU and execution engine level across distributed query infrastructure.
- Design and lead benchmarking strategies to evaluate and improve system performance at cluster scale.
- Drive technical standards and best practices for query engine development across teams.
- Collaborate with platform and data teams to deliver reliable, high-performance database solutions.
- Mentor engineers and lead cross-team efforts focused on query optimization and database internals.
What We Are Looking For:
- 7+ years of experience in IT roles.
- 5+ years of experience with C++ as a primary language in database or systems engineering.
- Expert knowledge of execution engine and query optimizer design.
- Hands-on experience with CPU-level performance tuning in production systems.
- Experience defining and executing benchmarking strategies at cluster scale.
- Proven ability to influence technical direction and lead optimization efforts across multiple teams.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
How we do make your work (and your life) easier:
- Remote Work.
- Excellent compensation in USD or your local currency if preferred
- Hardware and software setup for you to work from home.
