To support this journey, we are looking for a Senior Project Engineering Manager who combines strong project leadership with technical engineering expertise, organizational talent and the ability to drive change.
This is a highly visible role within the organization and offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the future development of the Brussels site, our Engineering organization and our project management capabilities.
Your Mission
As Senior Project Engineering Manager, you will lead strategic engineering and capital investment projects while supporting the further development of our Project Management Office and Engineering organization.
You will work closely with the Senior Engineering Manager and act as a trusted partner in driving project execution excellence, portfolio governance and organizational growth.
You will independently manage projects ranging from several hundred thousand euros up to approximately €10 million while contributing to the development of standards, processes and structures that support the company’s future growth.
Beyond project delivery, you will play an active role in evaluating investment opportunities, developing business cases and supporting capital allocation decisions.
What You Will Do
Lead Strategic Projects

Manage multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure and compliance projects from concept through operational handover.

Coordinate internal stakeholders, project services partners, contractors and equipment suppliers.

Lead project governance, planning, budgeting, procurement and execution activities.

Support commissioning, qualification, validation and operational readiness activities.

Prepare and present project status, risks, investment requests and strategic decisions to corporate leadership teams.

Ensure resource availability and allocation through visual staff models to support prioritization discussions.

Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
Documentation and process improvement

Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document needs.

Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.

Continuously improve processes and structures to guide project execution and portfolio management.
Support Portfolio & PMO Development

Maintain and further develop project portfolio reporting and governance.

Consolidate project status updates, financial reporting and cashflow forecasts.

Support investment planning and project prioritization activities.

Support project management training and knowledge sharing within the organization.
Capital Investment & Business Case Development

Develop business cases for strategic capital investment projects.

Prepare, challenge and validate project cost estimates throughout all project phases.

Perform financial evaluations including ROI, NPV and payback analyses.

Evaluate alternative technical solutions from both engineering and financial perspectives.

Support portfolio prioritization and investment decision-making processes.
Contribute to Organizational Growth

Support the continued development of the Engineering department.

Contributes to building scalable structures that support future site growth.

Act as a role model for ownership, accountability and execution excellence.

Education, Experience & Skills

Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent through experience.

Minimum 10 years of experience managing engineering and capital investment projects within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences or other regulated industries.

Proven experience leading multidisciplinary projects up to and beyond €10 million.

Strong understanding of GMP-regulated environments.

Experience with commissioning, start-up, qualification, validation and regulatory activities.

Experience managing engineering contractors, suppliers and project services partners.

Experience with project governance, project controls, budgeting and risk management.

Experience with portfolio management and PMO activities is considered a strong advantage.

Experience with permitting, tendering, procurement and contract management.

Strong financial understanding, including CAPEX management, forecasting and cashflow planning.

Demonstrated ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across different cultures, functions and geographical regions.

Ability to manage multiple strategic projects simultaneously.

Demonstrated experience developing CAPEX requests and business cases for capital investment projects.

Experience performing ROI, NPV, IRR and payback calculations for investment decisions.

Ability to challenge engineering estimates and evaluate alternative technical solutions from a business perepsective.

Comfortable with MS Project and other Project/Office software tools

Fluent in English. Dutch and/or French are considered strong assets.
