Custom Specialist- Automotive Business
You are responsible for ensuring a smooth, accurate, and compliant flow of goods across borders. You manage customs documentation, monitor laws and regulations, and support internal and external stakeholders in export and import processes. Thanks to your knowledge and experience, risks are minimized and our trade flows remain optimal and fully compliant with regulations. In this role, you work closely with the EMEA customs community.
Key responsibilities
- Manage customs authorizations and ensure compliance with international trade and customs legislation (Union Customs Code, EU legislation)
- Maintain and monitor customs processes, including documentation and process controls
- Act as main contact for customs authorities, coordinate audits, manage reporting activities including export declarations follow‑up
- Deliver customs support and training to internal departments and stakeholders
- Handle supplier declarations and apply preferential agreements
- Supervise and update work instructions related to customs activities
- Act as system owner for the Customs application, ensuring availability and issue resolution
- Ensure access to required customs systems, applications, databases and digital certificates
Requirements
- A degree in Logistics, International Trade, Supply Chain, Economics, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in customs, trade compliance, or international logistics.
- Knowledge of customs regulations, procedures, the Union Customs Code, and relevant EU legislation.
- Experience with customs systems (IDMS, AES, and NCTS).
- Knowledge of FTAs, preferential and non‑preferential rules of origin.
- Experience with AEO certification is a plus.
- Proactive & responsible: you take initiative and feel accountable for correct and timely handling of customs matters.
- Customer‑oriented: you enjoy supporting internal teams and customers, provide clear advice, and focus on their needs.
- Strong communication skills: fluent in Dutch and English.
- Administratively strong & digitally skilled: accurate, organized, and familiar with MS Office and customs applications such as Stream Software.
- Team player & connector: you collaborate easily with colleagues across departments.
