The Director, Commercial FP&A is the key Finance partner to the Business in 1-2 large European markets and coordinates certain regional FP&A activities (planning, pipeline). As a member of country leadership teams, the role works closely with key stakeholders to provide strategic and financial leadership.
The role will lead planning, forecasting, performance management and reporting. Beyond local financial activities, the role also leads specific regional finance processes and actively contributes to finance projects to optimize our ways of working and processes.
The role also provides support on various non-finance topics, connecting all dots to generate forward-looking insights to senior leaders, constructively challenge and share ideas. The FP&A Director develops business cases and complex analysis to support & influence decision-making, strategic initiatives and optimize resource allocation in order to maximize value creation for the company.
Strategic FP&A and business partnering
Member of the country leadership teams and key contact to your business partners for all Finance-related topics
Lead FP&A for your markets, aligning financial plans with business strategy and priorities
Partner with local stakeholders to provide insights, challenge constructively and make fact-based proposals
Act as a strategic partner to the local LT and develop business cases to ensure financial considerations are incorporated into strategic reflection, support & influence decision-making and maximize value creation, such as:
Access strategy design, pricing scenarios modelling, crafting creative reimbursement schemes
New launches: pre-launch preparation & resourcing, patient and revenue forecasting
Investment & resource requirements
Commercial analytics and salesforce effectiveness / incentives
local go-to-market model and headcount management
Planning & Performance Management
Lead quarterly P&L forecasting cycles and long-range planning processes for your markets
Deliver monthly management P&L reporting and monitor performance versus forecast, identifying key drivers, risks and opportunities and generating insights
Drive effective cost management, resource allocation and value creation: evaluate impacts of opportunities and risks, assess financial implications of strategic initiatives and investments to maximize value creation for the organization
Work closely with Distribution and support S&OP process to ensure sound management of inventory
Regional Finance responsibilities and continuous improvement
Lead certain FP&A processes or activities for the entire International region, closely working with rest of FP&A community
Be the regional referent for certain pipeline assets / indications
Continuously improve finance processes and tools, including to embrace AI and use it in your daily work to increase efficiency and value creation
Lead or support strategic finance projects as required
Accounting, controls & compliance
Partner closely with Accounting, Tax and Treasury teams to:
Ensure integrity of the local accounting records, robust compliance processes and controls are in place
Manage accounts receivable
Support various Corporate reporting, tax requirements or any other required activity
Support statutory, tax, audit and other financial requirements
Strong finance expertise with advanced analytical and modelling skills (revenue models and ideally access/pricing), ability to translate complex information into actionable insights.
Leadership and Trusted business partner: connector across the organization, demonstrated ability to lead through influence; demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness, concise communication
Strong commercial mindset: understanding of business drivers, and the connection between financial outcomes and business strategy
Strong learning agility: enjoys and excels in fast-paced, results-driven environments where s/he must tackle and solve complex strategic business challenges and issues, incorporating the newest ideas, technologies, and approaches to business.
Pragmatic and hands on approach, lead while "rolling up your sleeves" to get things done
Knowledge of relevant systems, technology, financial reporting requirements and controls
Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline
Minimum of 8+ years of experience in Finance, with relevant experience in FP&A
Pharmaceutical, biotechnology experience strongly preferred.
Proven ability to operate cross-functionally and as a strategic finance partner to senior stakeholders
