We are looking for an experienced Java Cloud Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications within a modern enterprise environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and DevOps practices. The role involves working closely with development, architecture, infrastructure, and business teams to deliver reliable and high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend applications using modern development practices.
- Develop scalable and resilient microservices using Spring Boot.
- Build and maintain REST APIs and web services.
- Contribute to cloud-native application development and deployment.
- Design and implement solutions on Azure, AWS, or other major cloud platforms.
- Containerize applications using Docker and deploy/manage workloads using Kubernetes.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, or Jenkins.
- Work with Infrastructure as Code and automation practices, including Terraform.
- Develop and maintain event-driven and messaging-based solutions using technologies such as Kafka, Azure Service Bus, AWS SQS/SNS, or equivalent platforms.
- Develop automated unit and integration tests using JUnit and related testing frameworks.
- Work with relational databases and develop efficient SQL queries.
- Participate in application integration, deployment, monitoring, and production support activities.
- Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, and production issues and contribute to root-cause analysis.
- Ensure applications meet required standards for performance, security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to technical documentation, coding standards, development guidelines, and best practices.
Must-Have SkillsJava & Backend Development
- Strong experience with Java 17–21.
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot 3.x.
- Experience developing microservices architectures.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs and web services.
- Good understanding of enterprise application integration.
Cloud & DevOps
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code.
- Knowledge of cloud-native application development and deployment.
- Experience with application monitoring and production support.
Messaging & Integration
- Experience with messaging and event-driven architectures.
- Knowledge of technologies such as:
- Apache Kafka

- Understanding of asynchronous communication and distributed systems.
Testing & Quality
- Strong experience with JUnit.
- Knowledge of unit and integration testing.
- Experience with automated testing practices.

Databases
- Strong understanding of relational databases.
- Good knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with database integration in Java/Spring applications.

Experience & Education
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Java development.
- Strong practical experience in cloud and DevOps environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in the Energy/Utilities sector is an advantage.
Language Requirements
- Fluent French OR Dutch.
- Excellent understanding of English.
