Job Description:
The opportunity
Our Substation Automation Engineering team in Zaventem is growing, and we are looking for an experienced engineer ready to step into a leadership role that combines technical depth with people development.
You will lead a team of 7 engineers, helping them grow professionally while ensuring high-quality delivery on complex substation automation projects. Your work sits at the intersection of engineering excellence and team empowerment — you will be the person your team looks to for guidance, and the person management looks to for results.
This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys developing people as much as solving technical problems. You will collaborate closely with peer engineering groups and contribute to the strategic direction of the broader Engineering department. If you are motivated by building great teams and delivering solutions that matter for the energy transition, this is your opportunity.
How you'll make an impact
Lead and motivate a team of 7 Substation Automation engineers through clear objectives and day-to-day coaching.
Plan shifts and capacity across your team, factoring in global resource needs.
Monitor and ensure the quality and correctness of your team's project deliverables.
Support both your engineers and cross-functional project teams on Substation Automation topics.
Drive personnel development to build, expand, and retain technical know-how within the team.
Continuously improve engineering processes in close collaboration with other engineering groups to raise productivity and quality.
Actively contribute to the Engineering management team, including cost center budgeting and definition of strategic and operational goals.
Your background
University degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience in Substation Automation, SCADA, or Control & Protection is strongly recommend.
Previous experience in a leadership role — as Team Manager, Project Manager, or Lead Engineer — is a strong advantage.
Experience managing or facilitating change in a technical environment is a plus.
Fluency in French and English, or Dutch and English
Skilled at coaching and developing people, with a collaborative mindset across local and global teams.
