The purpose of this position is to ensure the daily operation, proper maintenance and development of information and communication systems in order to support a high-quality edcuation and an efficient administration of the school. This role becomes more important over time. A high quality IT infrastructure and very good user experience are distinction criteria for the school and therefore a leverage to reach our strategic long term objectives.
The position holder on the one hand needs to be capable of supporting the school staff with a clientoriented mindset on all IT related issues. On the other hand she/he needs to proactively advise on Improvements of the IT Infrastructure, support the decision making process and implement such new solutions.
Your Tasks (list is not exhaustive)
o Responsible for the daily operation of the School’s Information- and Communication Infrastructure
o Maintenance of all Hard- and Software components used in the school (Server, Antivirus, Backups, wired and wireless networks, Firewalls, video conference equipment, endpoints, telephony).
o Ensure the security of all IT systems (apply security patches, manage configurations, ensure anti-virus and other security updates)
o Ensure all required IT services are available during school hours (7:30 – 17:30) and on request also outside school hours through pro-active maintenance and swift and effective troubleshooting
o Manage the school provided mobile devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones, mobile phones)
o Management of Contracts: Software Licenses, Maintenance agreements, IT related leasing
o Installation of new systems (including testing, appropriate communication, training etc.)
o Assure connection to external specialists and leverage them as appropriate for the school
o User access Management (including setting up accounts for new users etc.)
o Creation and maintenance of complete documentation of all ICT systems (e.g. network structure, security architecture, overview of servers in operation, network components, end devices such as PCs, tablets, projectors, smartboards, monitors, ...)
o Proactively advise on system changes or new products, which could improve the IT landscape of the school, both in the area of software as well as hardware
o Monitor and actively advise on developments in the educational environment (Germany, Belgium) as far as Technology in schools is concerned
o Act as an advisor on general IT topics for the school’s headmaster and the administrative board
Organization / Exposure
o The jobholder reports to the Head of Administration of the School.
o The position is complemented by a part-time, more junior IT expert, who would report to the jobholder
o Day-to-day contact with Teachers, administrative staff and students. Occasional contact with external stakeholders (Parents, Administration Board)

o Motivated IT allrounder with 3-5 years relevant experience
o Expertise in providing 1st Level support for a small to medium organization
o Expertise in Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows 10 and network technology
o Experience with selection and implementation of new hard- or software.
o Able to communicate with partners with limited IT background when proposing new solutions or changes to existing solutions
o Ideally some project management experience
o Proactivity - you find issues before they find you, eager to push things forward
